News continued from last issue: Along with the announcement of the endowment of a memorial chair at Tuck School honoring her father, Al Frey, Janet Frey Harte of Corpus Christi, Tex., sent news of her husband (Ed Harte '45, a retired newspaper publisher) and their four children: Chris, the oldest, also a newspaper publisher, lives with wife and son in Portland, Maine; Elizabeth lives in Boston with husband and three daughters; William, a rancher, lives in San Antonio with wife and three children; the youngest, Julia, lives in Manhattan with husband and three daughters. "All were constant visitors with grandparents in Hanover, and went to the Aloha Camps, so I managed to keep New England alive in spite of having been transplanted to Texas 45 years ago!" "Alas," adds Janet, "no Dartmouth students yet!"
Judith Dewey Newell reported the death of Alice Wheelwright Dewey, widow of Maurice Adams Dewey, who passed away in April of this year, aged 94. The Deweys lived in Minneapolis and many years in Illinois. Maurice died in 1986, at 89. Judith writes: "My mother lived near my husband and me in Toledo for the past seven years. During that time she enjoyed several trips to visit family members around the country. She remained an energetic and engaging person to the very end of her life." Survivors: five children, 23 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. A goodly number!
I would be most grateful to receive notice of the passing of any 1920 widows to report in the column, sad news though it is.
