Once again I'm indebted to Dero Saunders for sending me an advance copy of his next Tearbag. Unless I get some more news items from you guys out there, everything you read in the Alumni Magazine will be stale news. Consider yourselves scolded, and get on the ball!

Unfortunately much of The Tearbag this time is sad news, most importantly of course about the tragic accidental death of Bucks Weil. The obituary notice from alumni records has not reached me yet, so will appear in a later issue.

Let's get a little happier; Dud Russell wrote to Dero that he and Bet were about to do some more traveling, and now, if all went as planned, they will have been to Maui, Tucson, San Juan, and Key West.

Speaking of travel, I chuckle when I remember a conversation I had at Reg Pierce's dinner at our mini-reunion. One of our classmates, who shall remain nameless, was pretty well in his cups, and cornered me to complain bitterly that The Tearbag and the Alumni Magazine contained nothing but news about travels, "and who the hell wants to read about other people's travels?"

Bob Hage and Don Hagerman wrote cards to Dero pointing out that they and their wives had attended our 60th in September but that their names were not in The Tearbag. Dero has atoned for the omission, and for good measure here s the Alumni Magazine recognition.

Sam Milesky was scheduled for a visit to Holland in September. Bill Eisendrath reported that he has sold most of his beef cows but kept a few head, and that he has had a hip replacement.

One last travel note: I've planned to sail to England on the QEII in May, and come back on the Concorde.

In the middle of the night last night I woke up with a thought which might be original, although other class secretaries may well have come up with the same idea. If every classmate whose travel plans appeared in The Tearbag would write me a note when he gets home, describing his trip, it would make this column more interesting. Please take the hint!
