I am sitting at the typewriter on July 10, pondering how to make my first column at least moderately interesting despite the scarceness of notes from classmates. Let's hear from you guys and widows with some news; send cards or letters to me or to Dero Saunders, and our jobs will be easy!
You may have read in the Tearbag that Cramp Carrick sent a note saying he intended to make our 60th Reunion but couldn't go to Florida this year; I am saddened to report that Cramp passed away.
Dero has given us some numbers regarding our 60th Reunion: some 81 classmates attended, and the total present, including family members and guests, was approximately 179, for new records. The "Great Class" was proud to present a check for $215,000 to the Alumni Fund, well in excess of our goal of $175,000. My short-term memory doesn't function too well these days, so if any of you would like to know how many classmates matriculated, graduated, etc., drop a note to Dero, and one of us will try to answer in a forthcoming issue.
entertainment rivaled Broadway's best. A bus tour of Juneau, a ride into the mountains from Skagway on the antique railway, a walking-shopping tour of Sitka all defy description. Make the trip if you possibly can!
