Gene Waggaman is once again making news supporting his local community with his recent appointment to the Greenwich Continuing Education Advisory Council. As Gene says, "Greenwich continuing education, already recognized as providing one of the best, if not the best, education enhancement program in Fairfield County, is committed to the twin concepts of continuing improvement and enlightening expansion. The general purpose of the council is to contribute practical support and creative thinking." That we know you will do, Gene—Congratulations!

The '38s Hanoverarians have lost two of their faithful members. Jack Graham and Ann now call West Falmouth, Mass., on Cape Cod their new home after many years in Hanover. Enjoy the soft ocean breezes, Jack and Ann!

We have lost another classmateOnslow "Sheriff" Gordon passed away on December 14, 1995. Our sympathy to his family. .

As I write this in January, and you read it in April/May, I remind you of our minireunion on October 5.

In my December column, telling you of Bob Harvey's and Marguerite Pendleton's marriage, I mentioned that they would be New Hampshire residents..."'til autumn turns to winter." Now I must tell you that they have had a change of heart and have made Marguerite's home in Decateur, Ga., their permanent residence. Those of us at this past mini had the pleasure of meeting and making friends with "Sissy,' as Bob calls her.

My mail bag has nary a piece of news so, unless you come to my rescue, stay tuned for a different approach to your class column.

Now that many of you little white ball chasers have returned to your summer homes and are anxious to make up a foursome with your friends...l am reminded of this from Mr. Arnold Palmer—"Golf is deceptively and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening. It is without doubt the greatest game mankind ever invented." Good luck to you all in your quest for lower handicaps!

And as I close—just a reminder that the income tax has made liars out of more Americans than golf ever did.
