I received a note in the mail from Phil Fessenden '37, enclosing a copy of a "Class Book of the class of 1938 of Dartmouth College 169 th Year June 1938," covered with its green leather cover. It was in memoriam to Arthur Merrill Allen, William Seccombe Patten and Charles Adams Peters Jr., and lists the class officers, executive committee and the commencement officers. It includes a "Speech of Welcome by President 'Stinky' Davis"; an "Address to the College" by Art Soule; a "Secretary's Speech" by Baron von Peckmann; a "Class Day Address" by Howard Charles Van Riper; the "Class Poem" by Charlie Livermore; an 'Address to the Old Pine" by John Cutler; an article by Fred Wagner titled 'American and the Liberal Arts College"; "Perceptions and the Word: An Understanding of Poetry" by Bill Bronk; a paper by Howie Rea called "Social Reform"; and, finally, it lists the names and addresses of 523 graduates.

How many of you remember this and have a copy? I can't find mine! That Phil would have the book and send it to me is most amazing. One of his grandsons found it at a yard sale in the greater Portland, Maine, area. Also Phil has a brother-in-law, Cal Edward '37—some of you might have crossed paths with him!

The Huntsville Times of Alabama reports that Bob Harvey presented a slide show at Christ Episcopal Church based on his book To the Isles AfarOff Traditions of the Early British Church. Bishop Harvey retired from the Diocese of the Southwest of the Anglican Church in America in 1983. A native of East Orange, New Jersey, he now serves as the honorary assistant at St. Barnabas in Dunwoody, Georgia. A graduate of Dartmouth College in political science, he also studied at the University of the South, at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evansville, Illinois, and at St. Augustine's College in Canterbury, where he was chairman of Priest Students.

It is with deep regret that I must report to you the death of Ash Lans at his home in New York City. Our deepest condolences go to Peggy and his family.

Enjoy your spring. Please make note of our '02 mini October 11-12. Be there!
