This month we list the passing of Jim Gordon on November 5, Al Andrews on December 9, Bob Bryant on the 7th of January, and Hank C .onkle on January 12. (Obits in this, or a later issue). Clem Burnap in Alameda, Calif., says that he missed the mini last fall because of arthritic knees, but he hastens to suggest that it has not kept him off the golf course. Since July he has placed in the money in seven tournaments. He says he doesn't have time to play in anything but tournaments, even though a member of six different golf clubs. Partially retired, Clem spends a great deal of his time working on a fund in honor of his late brother, Dr. Tom Burnap '46. His target is $50,000 by 1997 to provide an annual income to a suite at Thayer School.
We learn from a nephew that Dr. Edward P. Wells is now a subject of biographical record in Who's Who in America's 50th edition. John Davenport had a bypass operation on January 18. When last heard from he had recovered nicely and was due at his new address, 6800 Sand Pointe Circle, Naples, FL 33963 on February 7, in time for Betsy Emmons' winter bash on March 8.
Ran into Doc Tower in Vero Beach, Fla., in February. Fie was in a hurry, and on his way to the East Coast so he would be in good time for Betsy's party.
We heard through Mark Harty '72, that the late Bill Harty's four sons are on a "root" journey. Bill, who passed away in 1981, being a modest guy, had little to say of his accomplishments or life at Dartmouth, and his family is endeavoring to recapture some of that life for a family journal. Those '39ers who might wish to pass along some information or recollections, send them to Mark P. Harty '73, 36 Fiske Road, Wellesley Hills, MA 02181.
