After several years of alternating columns, Rick and I have finally decided to take the plunge and co-write a column. We're very excited about this a chance to meld our writing styles, to bounce ideas off each other, but most importantly, a way to cut our workload in half. And all those benefits get passed along to you, Faithful Reader.

With our Reunion fast approaching there's much to report on, so let's get to it: Shelly LeavittNadel e-mailed us along chatty note about her life, reporting that she and husband of four years, David, recently had a baby, Leah Jessica Nadel, who was born on September 20. Things seem to be going well, despite minimal amounts of sleep and the typical adjustment issues faced by Leah's three feline siblings. Husband David is an engineer at Fluor Daniel and Shelley is the director of membership and public affairs for NACE—the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.

Alumni Records sent a clipping from the Bluehill Weekly Packet in Maine, reporting on the appointment of CraigeWilliamson as a hand surgeon at Frenchman Bay Orthopedics in Ellsworth, Maine. Craige was recently a fellow in hand and microsurgery in Boston at the New England Medical Center and Tufts, and before that got his M.D. at UVA. You may remember Craige from his recent article in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery: "Acute Gouty Arthropathy Following Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Case Report." Movie rights have been picked up by Warner and the TV movie starring Ally Sheedy will be out in time for sweeps. Despite his sudden celebrity, Craige resolves to stay in Maine with his wife, Kim, and daughter Ramsey.

Other doctors in the news include Bridget Koehler, who was mentioned in the Williamstown Advocate. Bridget got her Ph.D. in physical chemistry at Stanford back in 1990 and is now at William College working with a bunch of her fellow Ph.D.ers on "cutting-edge laser work" (the pun is the Advocate's).

Laura Ingraham continues to get press. In fact, it's getting to the point where Laura gets press about getting press. Witness a recent Wall Street Journal article about how the conservatives are beginning to dominate the party circuit in Washington: "To Laura Ingraham—who circulates at these parties and often surfaces in news stories about young conservatives—it's only natural that liberals have lost their status on the Capital's A-list. 'Liberals are the ones who should be busy and have no time to throw parties, because they're always trying to run other people's lives,' she says, '...since conservatives say, 'let individual liberties rule' we really ought to be the ones kicking back more and relaxing.'" Leave it to a Dartmouth grad to find a political philosophy for partying behavior. Keep circulating, Laura.

Finally, from my Christmas card pile (I'm late, I know) comes the following...

Kirk Roberts had the following questions: "Mark, where is the Xeroxed holiday newsletter?" (I have a two-year-old, Kirk...a holiday newsletter? you've got to be kidding.) "How come it's always Rick Joyce in the alumni magazine?" (They keep losing my columns.) "Have you forgotten how to write now that you've been working in the movies (or is it film) for so long?" (We prefer the term "entertainment industry" if you don't mind.) In amongst the third degree was some information on Kirk, who is living in Suffern, N.Y., with his wife, Patty, and young son Jeremy. They are expecting their second child in March. Congrats, Kirk!

With our 11th-year Reunion only a month or so away I hope you've all sent in your money...Rick and I will see you there!
