You know, you just have to love the class of '92. Every time I cry out for more news, the letters flood in. Your response has always been terrific, and I really appreciate your extra efforts when the news gets scarce. It only takes a few minutes to jot down an update on a postcard, and if you don't write, you may never see your name in bold.
It's Wednesday night, and you decide to blow off some of that (choose one: law, med, grad) school reading, and as you flick through the TV channels you stumble across a familiar face on Comedy Central. Hey, it's AishaTyler, formerly of the Rockapellas, doing stand-up! In August Aisha left her job as a public-relations associate for the Trust for Public Land to do full-time stand-up comedy. She finished a 50-college tour in November and returned home to San Francisco and husband Jeff Tietjens '91, with whom she tied the knot in May.
Aisha reports that Molly Phinney is still studying at Yale Divinity School and writing for the New Haven Advocate. Aisha says to "look for Molly to be the first feminist minister lounge singer, giving absolution over a martini and a soprano rendition of My Way.'"
Rachel Johnson, who has been a research assistant for the Flow of Funds section of the Division of Research and Statistics at the Federal Reserve Board (phew) since graduation, was recently promoted to RA for the director of her division (translation, please!). In her free time, Rachel volunteers for the Dinner Program for Homeless Women, takes trombone lessons, plays trombone with the McLean (Va.) Symphony and the Rockvillr (Md.) Brass Band, and reads as a lector at St. Ann's Church. (Suddenly I feel like an underachiever.) Rachel reports that Julie Amstein is in her third year at American University's College of Law in Washington.
"Round the Girdled Earth..." Hugo Restall sent a note from Hong Kong, where he recently moved from Kunming, China, to take a job as editor of the editorial page of the Asian Wall Street Journal. Another overseas note arrived from Kenta Takamori, who still lives in Tokyo, although he left his speech-writing job at Fuji Xerox to start a "sweet new job" with Jardine Fleming Securities Ltd. in its International Institutions Department.
Willie Williams sent an update from Pasadena, Calif., where he recently married June Bennett '94. Willie is the director of research and evaluation at the UCLA School of Management Program, where he trains school leaders to decentralize the Los Angeles Unified School District. June works in employee services at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a NASA facility.
Kate Aiken Moody is an organizational-development specialist at Liz Claiborne Inc. in New York, and Xony Moody is a listed equity trader at Merrill Lynch. Kate reports that Andrew Tolson, who also works at Merrill Lynch, finished the New York Marathon in November. Jamie Boswell and Jim MacDonald also finished the New York Marathon.
In other news, Tracey Johnson is in her last year of law school in Cincinnati. A news clip "from the Malibu Times states that Navy Ensign Matias Stitch recendy reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. AbrahamLincoln. Another news clip reports that Second Lieutenant Kenneth Connelley, who joined the marines in December 1993, has graduated from The Basic School in Quantico, Va., where he prepared for his assignment to the Fleet Marine Force.
Well, the pile has once again bottomed out, so keep it coming! Take care, and stay in touch.
