Do we remember the days of November, bright sun all over, crisp in the air? Do we remember the days of November, flaming foliage all over, brightening the hillsides and dales everywhere? Surely we do. So now is the time to fly to Hanover, stay at the Inn (best food north of Boston), take a car over the northland's back roads, visit the White Mountains, see the Old Man.
Highlights of the meeting of the 1996 executive committee in Hanover on July 17: 27 of us gathered. Six hundred thirty-four of us entered College; 425 graduated; 225 of us chug along here. Milt Johnson, assistant secretary, wrote the minutes. Art Toan reported that the Memorial Book Fund, by which a book memorializing every departed class member is placed in Baker Library, is up to date. From Alumni Fund agent Morris Stein came word that in the 1997 fund drive more than $12,000,000 was raised; contributions from 1936 were close to our goal of $125,000. The College estimates our goal for the 1998 drive to be $100,000; Morrie suggests $110,000 to provide us added initiative. He requested added effort by class agents of the fund effort during the final weeks of the drive; also that names of prospects not contributing be provided to him and President Price for making follow-up phone calls.
Comforting Program: President Price summarized suggestions from class agents, officers, and executive committee members and proposed the following actions: 1) request officers and executive committee members to select nine to ten classmates in their areas to maintain contact with and report to the president; 2) use class agents as a further check on those in need of support; and, 3) cover program activities and results regularly in Tithe and Alumni Magazine Notes.
From the secretary came a request that each committee member once a year talk to two other class members and write him the news so gathered; also the suggestion that a class member, resident near Hanover, be appointed archivist/custodian to obtain from classmates and others class papers and to organize and maintain them. Treasurer Ray Builter's report was received and approved by the committee.
