If I remember correctly, approximately 50 percent of our class declared pre-med as freshmen, but fewer than 25 percent graduated as such. Nonetheless, even in this era of cutbacks and managed care, the class of'78 would be well-served by the medical profession from among our ranks.

Alice Galuska Papsun is a psychiatrist who teaches at Yale and has a private practice. Alice completed medical school after having an established career as a clinical social worker. She is also enjoying life married to Albert Papsun and raising Sarah Grace Papsun, their 1-year-old daughter.

Timothy Patxick-Miller practices pediatrics in Princeton, N.J., where his wife, Linda, is a psychologist.

Mark Bradley is an opthalmologist is Minot, N.D. When not practicing clinical opthalmology and administrative medicine, Mark is playing "the best tennis of my life" and contemplating a change to medical consulting as a patient advocate (like a medical ombudsman).

Bryan Pechous is an opthalmologist in Dubuque, lowa. He serves as a delegate to the AMA from lowa and has published scientific papers. Bryan and his wife, Gina, have four children: Christina (11), Paul (9), Robert (8), and David (7).

Mara Dinsmoor teaches and practices high-risk obstetrics in Richmond, Va. Richard Heath is an emergency physician who still enjoys his job after 12 years no small accomplishment.

David Martin is an orthopedic surgeon, associate professor of orthopedic surgery, and director of resident education at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. David was a sports medicine traveling fellow to the South Pacific (Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand) in 1993 and to Japan in 1996. David commented that he would probably spend more than just four years at Dartmouth—l think most of us would agree!

As I write this, my two daughters are returning from sleep-away camp. I think it is a way of getting in training for when they leave for college. I must admit I am glad that day is still far off.
