Following Harry Jacobs's marriage last spring to Joan Scribner Patterson, he fell on the tennis court and broke his hip. He reports he is fully recovered and back to his usual active self, but still not back on the court. They flew home from Sun Valley this summer and are off to Hong Kong in December for a meeting. Joan is a real-estate executive with Capik and Cos. in Ketchum, Id., near Sun Valley. Her son, Robert, is director of ski teams at Dartmouth, and two other children, Susie Patterson Gillette and James, were members of the U.S. Olympic ski team in 1976 and 1980. We welcome Joan into the 1942 family.

Rusty Hartranft, of Basking Ridge, N.J., reports he is in good shape and was active in the last Alumni Fund drive. Though retired for more than a decade, he still goes in to his brokerage office a couple of hours a day and then keeps busy with bridge, golf, and fishing- He lost JoyceRuth since the 50th Reunion, so it's lonely. Rusty's two daughters are at some distance, and their five children have no father, so you can guess who plays the male role model. He still sees Dutch Schaefer and Bob Buckalew regularly and tells us that Swifty Barnes just celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary to Ginny (it was— obviously—a 1942 marriage). The Barneses split their lives between Newburyport, Mass., and Vero Beach, Fla.

Dick Lee writes from Boston on August 8: "Went to Mike de Sherbinin's yesterday for lovely memorial service for wife Polly, a friend for 50 years. Going to Grand Rapids to see Jim and Joyce Idema tomorrow..." Our sympathy to Mike for his loss of Polly, a wonderful lady.

A note from Alex and Betty Fanelli reports on a ten-day trip to Maine this summer, where they visited with SallyKuhn at the Cape Rosier community where she and Craig had been kind enough to share their waterfront vacation cabin in years past. "We missed Craig, of course, but we thought and spoke of him often.... We then drove to Phippsburgh, Maine, to spend a few days with my high school and College classmate KeithProuty and his wife, Muriel, in the beautiful new summer cabin they have built near the waterfront."
