It was a quiet summer for '41s, based upon the limited mail and phone calls received. However a clipping forwarded by Dr. Wally Davis reported that Linda and Les Davis were honored in April at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. They were selected for the Hall of Great Westerners as people who influenced the development of the West. Les and Linda are fourth-generation ranchers and owners of the historic CS Cattle Ranch, a 200,000-acre spread in Cimarron, New Mexico.

A cheery note from Don Hanks's northern dairy farm reported a phone contact with Dick Sawyer in Maine. Don said that Dick sounded the same as when they both roomed in College Hall, now remodeled for student activity offices. It reminded me of a Hanover visit several years ago with Brodie Bjorklund when we looked in vain for his old room in College Hall.

The happy voice of John Ahlgren was heard on the phone. He and Wynne are quite satisfied with their new condo in Bronxville, but they plan to escape the New York winters by migrating to Hillsboro Beach in Florida. After Johns heart attack last year and Wynnes chronic back problem, they are pleased to be able to enjoy regular walks and some tennis and golf.

Stu May, just up the road in Spring Hill, Florida, reported that he and Audrey had returned on June 1 from a 17-day trip to Spain, Malta, Gibraltar, Morocco and Tangiers, but wouldn't recommend a highly organized trip like theirs. Perhaps their feelings were colored by a two-week siege of acute bronchitis, which they brought back to sunny Florida.

Ed Fell came in loud and clear on the Ameche from Hilton Head, South Carolina. He and Florence have enjoyed that area for 20 years after leaving the publishing business in NYC and Hartford, Connecticut. They both are avid golfers and also like to visit son Gregory '71 in Rye, New York, where he is seniorvice president of Citibank. A daughter in Manchester, Vermont, also offers them respite from the Carolina summer heat. Ed did a lot of interviewing of student applicants up north, but he finally tossed in the towel when many of his prime candidates were rejected by the admissions office.

Cheers to all who labored long for the common good.
