I haven't had to start off with a plea for more news but this time it's necessary since this column is essentially from two people! All right, so maybe the novelty of seeing your name in print has worn off. How about a new motive.. .embarrass, oops, I mean honor, your friends! Whatever your reasons, please write.

Well, the two heros are Alison Cares and Kaja Schuppert. Alison sent me the latest update that makes me wonder why I live in Chicago! She and her husband were in sunny San Diego wearing shorts and T-shirts in the middle of February. You may remember from a previous column that they were transferred to California because her husband is in the navy. In fact, Alison wrote, that her "husband went on a deployment overseas for six months (his ship was one of the ones that shot missiles at Iraq around Labor Day)." While he was away, Alison had tons of time to hang out with Amy Barto and Amy Westpfahl '96 before Amy Barto started her first year at UConn Med School.

Before heading out west, Alison worked as a marketing assistant in a law firm, thanks to Arn Wensinger 'BB. And on their trip to the other ocean front, Alison visited Curtis Jones in Columbia, Misouri, where he is getting a master's degree in journalism or communications. Finally having arrived in San Diego, Alison began working for Community Outreach Coordinator's program called "Through the Eyes of Children," which educates the community on problems of domestic violence.

And Alison just had more and more to tell...Molly McDougal is living in Arlington, Mass., getting her master's in education from Tufts so she can teach Latin. Ken Gordon is in the midst of his first year of law school at the University of Virginia as he works toward a joint J.D./M.B.A. degree. Christy Horner is teaching elementary school in Millville, Mass., while she prepares for law school. Marie Weisse has relocated to N.Y.C. from Boston and sees Alison Burrell,Mariah Shilton, Anne Quinn, and Laura Kennedy '94 on a regular basis. JudiFlynn, who works for Chase Manhattan Bank's credit card division, is also in New York with Scott Swenson, who burns the midnight oil as a Smith Barney analyst.

And there's still more from Alison.... JillWesley switched jobs but not residences. She still lives with Kim Schmidt and Elizabeth Spainhour in Boston but is now working for the associate dean of the graduate school of social work. TrishBankowski is finishing up her time with the Peace Corps in Uganda with tentative plans to end up in D.C. this summer. Amanda Sutton continues to work toward her Ph.D. in organic chemistry in Ithaca, N.Y., while John Alexander is surviving his chemistry Ph.D. at MIT.

Now it's finally Kaja's turn, which will have to be concluded in next month's Alumni Magazine (I have to save some- thing for next time in case no one writes). Kaja has some terrific news about her recent success in her singing career. In six intense weeks, Kaja prepared for her first lead role in an opera as Gilda in Lowell House Opera's production of Rigoleito. In addition, Kaja will receive her master's in music this spring from the New England Conservatory. Kaja also had good news about her compatriot at the conservatory, Jane Anne McCoy. Jane Anne has been enjoying the opera program but is now looking forward to marrying Louis Tucker, who proposed on New Year's Eve.

Stay tuned next month for the exciting conclusion from our class president.
