At the Class Officers Weekend held this year in April our '43 meetings focused upon planning for our 55th Reunion, which will take place in June 1998. The dates are Monday June 15, to Wednesday, June 17. Our class has been assigned Buchanan Hall, a new dorm located in the Tuck School area. Bob Gray, reunion chairman, has some great ideas, but would appreciate your suggestions as to activities you believe would be enjoyable pre, during, and post the actual Reunion. We all know we have a terrific newsletter, and now the whole (Dartmouth) world knows as well! You'll recall Howie Leavitt was elected to represent class newsletter editors on the Alumni Council. This year Howie was named Class Newsletter Editor of the year. President Freedman's citation reads in part: "It was Sir Philip Sydney, the Elizabethan sonneteer, who said that his muse urged him to 'look in thy heart and write.' With that bit of wisdom as his guide, Howard Leavitt, class of 1943, has elevated his newsletters to a high art form. Howard's work is proof that great class newsletters delight their readers with wit and wisdom, and instruct them as well. Moreover, Dartmouth 1943 has always kept its classmates informed about one another and the roles played by Dartmouth alumni in support of the College.... For all your many contributions to the College and to your class, Dartmouth is delighted to name you as Class Newsletter Editor of the Year." Howie, you bring honor to yourself, to Margie, and to our class. Eddie 0' would be proud!
Our fall mini-reunion will be held in Hanover on the weekend of the Cornell game, October 3-4-5. Bob and Pauline Field have again planned an elegant program including dinner at the Tindle Room, class meeting and buffet at the Inn's Wheelock Room, dinner at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, and a Sunday brunch at the Inn. Doctors we'd like to hear from: Carl Batter, Dick Glover, Dick Lansburgh. Are you still practicing? We have learned of the deaths of Gordon Bingham, Richard Emerson, and Robert "Rad" Hibben. We offer our condolences to their families.
