I apologize for being long overdue with the conclusion to Kaja Schuppert's last update but I was nowhere near a computer for a while. I was living the so-called glamorous life of an ad person hopping from city to city (basically just a lot of standing around during a commercial shoot). But now that the spots are on air, I'll be in Chicago waiting for your letters.
Now to pick up where I left off last column, Kaja reports that things are going well at the pad she affectionately calls "Three's Company." Kaja's roommates Angela Hall and Andy Sargent sound pretty busy. Angela is working at Bay Cove High School in Allston as an assistant teacher and is applying to nursing school for next year. Kaja wrote, "Andy, while contemplating dropping everything and moving to Colorado, is working for an advertising agency in Boston that likes to fly him to Orlando, Fla., for golf shoe conferences—rough life!" More folks living in the Boston area include Steve Hoffman, who is a summer associate at Ropes and Grey, and Allison Moll, who is working at New England Conservatory's PR office.
And Kaja also had the scoop on Cory Murphy, who is working in CNN's accounting division in Atlanta; Jackie Kean, who received her master's in speech therapy and is trying to help ephasia patients recover their speaking skills; and Sara Wasserbauer, who is working as an independent Web-page contractor with Apple before she heads off to med school this fall. The final bit of good news from Kaja is the marriage of Kieran McNulty and Katie, his high school sweetheart. I guess Kieran won't be living with his roommate Brian Kurlander anymore.
Congrats to Tony Choe! No, he's not getting married but he did finish up his master's in public health. He's off to Philadelphia, where he landed a job as a managed-care consultant. In order to get the job, Tony traveled quite a bit and met up with '9ss in San Francisco and Boston. His travels to San Fran led to a reunion with Andrew Kim, Tim Weaver, Billy Hwang '96, Jin Chung '92, and Jorge Motoshige '96. Andrew is doing some work in graphic design until he goes off to UT Southwestern Medical School in the fall. Tim is in the anthropology doctoral program at Stanford and can be seen cruising around in his recently repaired Neon, courtesy of Vil Ramos, who was responsible for the damage during an earlier trip. Vil is now working at State Street Bank. During Tony's aimless walking of the streets of San Francisco, he ran into Justin Genant, who is studying at Stanford Medical School. Since Tony returned to the East Coast, he learned a valuable lesson on how to run into Dartmouth grads. While at a West Side brewery
in N.Y.C., Tony came to the realization that "Dartmouth Hats are useful in helping us alums find one another." A hat was the lucky cue that enabled Tony, Dave Yuan, and Kent Dahn to spot Emily Abernathy and a couple other '95s.
