Stop nickeling and diming the students!" was the battle cry in August as the Student Assembly formally complained to the College that "fines levied by administrative departments are a pervasive, persistent headache which detract from students quality of life and overall satisfaction with the College." Among the fines they object to paying:

Possession of slingshots or any device to hurl a missile, $50Posting signs in elevators, $25Smoking in common areas, $100Storing someone else's belongings, $100Tampering with TV cable, $100Underage intoxication, $50Unauthorized possession of waterbed $100

Acting treasurer Win Johnson '67 and acting Deanofthe College Dan Nelson '75 have told the Student Assembly they'd take a new look at the College policies on fines. Meantime, students can expect to put their money where their infractions are.
