Jim Rill, who was assistant attorney general in the antitrust division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1989 to 1992 and is now practicing law in Washington representing software companies that compete with Microsoft, wrote a featured article in The Wall Street Journal-. "Why Bill Gates is Wrong."
Tom Corcoran answered my plea for news of missing classmates. Pete Kirby is retired, living in Quebec.
Blair Academy, a local prep school, recently opened The Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts in Blairstown, N.J. The architect was Lo-yi Chan. His activities could fill several of these columns. Just a sample of present activities: commissioner of the New York City Art Commission, commissioner of the Ashley Falls (Mass.) Historical Commission; member. National Academy of Design; and trustee or director of the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass., The Lingnan Foundation in New York City, and Henry Street Settlement. As previously, reported, he is working on the College's master plan. He has also been partner in charge of educational projects at Peking University, Columbia University, Connecticut College, Harvard, and The Institute on Man and Science.
Lo-Yi reported that this past summer he stopped in New fane, Vt., for lunch with Jack and Nancy Reed. Jack continues his interest in music, singing in a local choir and chorus. Nancy sings, directs, and plays the church organ. Their home, on the edge of a meadow, a sparkling pool in the foreground and distant views of mountains and sky, is a "retirement dream."
At Homecoming Harry Robinson was presented with the Class of 1954 Award. John Cunningham and Pete Geithner were presented with the award at the New York holiday luncheon. Well deserved! Seventy classmates attended the luncheon either in New York or Boston.
