Congratulations and a tip of the tam to Jack and ShirleyPfeiffer, who recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, and to Hugh and Jeanne Lena, who similarly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In a previous issue I mistakenly awarded an M.D. degree to DickLansburgh, who quickly straightened me out. Dick reports his only practice is with his tennis game. John Keefe, indefatigable co-chair with Bob Barnum of our bequests and trusts committee, weighs in with the fact that bequests and life income trusts for the nine months of 1997 came to $28 million. He notes classmates are hard-headed about die financial and tax benefits they receive while intending to benefit the College. He also points out that Dave Haraway and the Bequests & Trusts staff can be most helpful to anyone interested in exploring annuities or life income gifts and can clarify thinking about estate plans all without hourly charges that some lawyers charge. Make your plans now to attend our 5 sth Reunion, which will be held in Hanover June 15-16-17. It's not too late, and Bob Gray and the committee have prepared a very interesting and entertaining program. We have been notified of die deaths of our classmates Wes Kauffiroth, Gerry Shattuck, and Dick Wood. We offer our condolences to their families.
