First, I want to thank all of you who helped make our 1998 Alumni Fund drive a success. Our super financial wizard, _ Tom Adams, advised that we attained our goal for the year. Good going, gang!
Jim Lynch sent me a note saying that he had visited Arizona in the late spring. Dined several times with Jackie and Bob Kimball. Also, spent some time with Nancy and Doug Leigh, who were vacationing in Arizona. The Kimballs are now back in residence in Hanover and receiving visitors, I should hope. Old friend Joe Verdi called. Still out in Brentwood, L.I. Retired long ago from 40 years with Equitable Bag Co. Pretty much taking life easy and enjoying good health. And he continues that longstanding heresy of hisrooting for the New York Yankees and he, born and bred in Brooklyn! And could I talk to Joe Verdi without thinking of Ed Simon? So I called Ed down in Montgomery, Ala. You'd think he'd have a bit of a drawl, all those years in the deep south. Not so, still the same Ed Simon. He and wife Pat just back from touring Switzerland and Italy. Next stop France, Ed told me. Retired for three years now and keeps in shape with a little golf. Warren "Red" Kealey still in Norwalk, Conn. He had practiced law there for many years. Still at it but only on a parttime basis. Told me of vacationing in Asheville, N.C. Greatly impressed by that area and recommends it to all. "Red" still at the golf. He ought to be good. One of his sons is a golf pro. Another one is an actor. I had reported a while back that "Red" had been doing some acting, too. Find out now that he's retired after failing to receive an Oscar nomination from the National Academy of whatever. Tried my California connections, being Jim Pulliam, George Glass, Jack Novascone, and Harry Colmery. Alas, old Ma Bell changed area codes on us and the College's printout ain't up to date.
Somehow got to Harry and had a long chat. Harry still working in the financial world taking care of lots of money with Capital Guardian. Keeps in touch with Glass and Novascone but hasn't seen Pulliam lately. Jim, how about sending me your number? When you read this it won't be too late to sign up for our mini-reunion. It's October 15, 16 and 17. Please try to come, you'll enjoy. Again I must report sad news on the deaths of some of our classmates. I think John McClintock reported this in his newsletter. Dr. Andrew Thomson, Renold D. Thompson, Owen G. Fraser, and Michael Rapak have all passed away since I last wrote. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families.
