When you read this our 55 th will be history. Thank you to all who attended. I'll give a full report when I write in June. For now the Alumni Fund needs a bit of attention. Because it's a reunion year the College wants a bit more—$300,000 to be exact. As I write we have about half of that. But I'm confident we'll make it to $300,000. Head money man Tom Adams is pessimistic, as always, but he and his crew with your help will do the job. Talked to John Potter down in Providence, Rhode Island. Long retired, John's a bridge expert and still a skier. Spends time in his place in Mascoma, New Hampshire. Dr. Wayne Frerichs out in Flagstaff, Arizona, and when I spoke to him it was snowing. Never knew it snowed there but also never knew Flagstaff was at about 7,000 feet. Wayne retired eight years now from his ear, nose, throat practice. Wife Judi broke her leg skiing but they're going to make the 55th. Oh, John Potter and wife Joan too. Spoke to Henry "Hank" Parker. Hanks a 20-year retiree as a Stanford professor, now living on the university campus. Makes frequent trips back to New Hampshire to check on his farm and maple syrup plantation. Hank said it was a bad year too much snow. Maybe that's what did in the stock market. Hank and wife Polly will be at the 55th and he's also going to celebrate his 60th at Kimball Union Academy. I'm not too swift but I don't know how a 60th and 55th come in the same year. Spoke to Carl Peterson. He and Betty Lou are now long-time Florida residents at Ft. Pierce. I tried to fathom just what he's been doing. He's into "politics"—though not as a candidate. Told him to advise against that, especially in Florida, unless you live to 100 to get the results. I spoke to Jim von Rohr, our reunion chairman. Up to 153 in late April. Tried to get co-chair Ray Dewees. Learned that he and wife Susan had gone to Ireland, then on to the continent and ultimate destination of Morocco. That's right, Morocco! Trying to stir up some reunion activity there. I'll bet you didn't knowwe had a '46er there until recently. Probably no more than 10 left now. Seriously, our own Joe Spector lived there once. But Joe's now in Columbia, South Carolina, and failed to give the College his number. So, Joe, please drop me a line and tell me what's happening. Looking forward to seeing many of you in June.
I have the sad task to advise that four of our classmates have died. Dr. Paul G. Hoveman on December 29,2000; Fletcher Thomas on January 28, 2001; Malcolm C. Johnson on February 8,2001; and Donald H. McAllister on March 6,2001. We express our deepest sympathy to their families.
