This is being written on the seventh day of the last year of the second millennium. We await the arrival of Supreme Court Chief Justice Rhenquist at the Senate top reside over the impeachment of the president. By April 1, when you read this column, one would hope that this historic event had ended. But at this writing it seems that the fat lady might not sing until our next and last qeuinqwuennial reunion.

Whit Daniels, whose wife died a year ago, has macular degeneration and can no longer write. He reads with difficulty, using closed circuit television with letters three inches high. He enjoys walking on a beautiful beach nearby which was formerly used for auto racing. He can be reached at Apt. 27 B, 3800 Saxon Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169; (904) 427-9303. FredLeyser, who formerly was the Coast Guard Academy Prep School commander, is well and active. He plays tennis several times a week, has two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Peg and JimNorth in San Francisco should have had company at New Year's time. Vera and EdMarks were on their way, and Dave Kirby, visiting his daughter in the city by the bay, expected to see the Norths.

Carol Gerstley, widow of WilliamGerstley II, did it again! She established a scholarship for handicapped students in memory of Bill, which will be paid annually for ten years. Four or five years ago Carol set up a similar scholarship. What a magnificent gift honoring our late classmate. Again we thank her for her continued interest in Dartmouth and our class.

Sadly, we report the passing of Alice, John Zimmerman's wife. We extend our condolences to John and his family.
