The finest, if not the very best, activity of the great class is the widows committee that keeps in touch with spouses of deceased classmates, most recent being Valentine's Day. This column is primarily excerpts from responses to the February greetings sent by George Colton,Don Fraser, Wiley Hubbell, Eleanor Smith (Dave), and Carolyne Ziemen (Sax).

Eileen Cahoon (Bud) wrote her thankyou from Harwich Port, Mass., saying she had seen Helen and John Wallace and John was having trouble with one of his legs "but is feeling much better." Eileen gets to New Hampshire to visit a daughter in Marlow. Johanna Lamson (Deane) said she was busy "shuttling" between New Jersey and Estes Park, Colo., and signed her letter with "wah-hoo-wah." Gladys Bear (Phil) reported "life in Sarasota has it rewards, lots of bridge, theater, arts, and family." One daughter, a lawyer, lives nearby, and has a son at Stanford and a daughter at Choate. Charlotte Dann (Everett) wrote from Anna Maria Island, Fla., that she was anticipating the arrival of her daughter Christine '83 and husband from New Zealand, hence "I will not go there this summer." From Hortense Eberhart(Dick) was the sad news that she lost daughter Patricia in the Swissair crash off Nova Scotia last September.

Pat Funke (Carl) told of selling her Florida condo for "a very quiet life" with her daughter and son-in-law in Upper Montclair, N.J. Pat said she was having eye and ear problems: "I'm working at it." Betty Kempf (Bill) wrote from Galesburg, Ill., she was sorry not to have acknowledged Valentine greetings before. "I've been a widow quite awhile," Betty said; Bill died in 1977. Solveig Eskedahl (Joe Sholkin) said she had seen Fran and Bob Boehm in London, and would be in Nicaragua in April to visit the schools and clinic founded by joe.

Lucia Wolf (Hugh) has moved from Bethesda, Md., to be near her daughter Martha in Evanston, Ill. Martha heads the Chicago Art Institute, "a very big job, running a home, and being a mother all at the same time." Our class lost two members in March, Charlie Nayor, a Boston trial attorney, and Dick Hube, co-chair of fall mini-reunions and class vice president. Dick succumbed in Switzerland.
