Two classmates, Governor Angus King and Dr. JulianWhitaker, moving down different paths, remain in the news.
One has recently appeared on TV on 48Hours, Larry King Live, Dateline NBC, SallyJessy Raphael, and PM Magazine. Given the temper of our times, I'm sure you've surmised it's Julian. As founder of the Whitaker Wellness Institute in Newport Beach, Calif., Dr. J. has successfully used herbs and nutritional therapies for over 25 years and advocates responsible consumption. He's also editor of Health Healing, a 500,000-circulation newsletter, and has written six health books. My favorite title is Shed 10 Years in 10 Weeks.
Angus, who was re-elected last November to a second term as governor of Maine, is now the dean of the independent governors conference (Jesse Ventura of Minnesota is the latest and only other member).
In December President Clinton announced he would appoint Gus to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, which advises the President and Congress on national historic preservation matters, reviews federally licensed projects that may affect properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and issues Historic Preservation Awards.
