Clearly deserving the first mention this month is Laura Robertson, who has e-mailed me not once, but twice with news of her life. Lest you think Laura is being pushy, the second message came because I lost her first message. Confusing, yes. Interesting, unlikely. Laura's current endeavors are, however, interesting. She eloped this past MLKJr. weekend up in the College Grant with Kurt Behrens (UMass '82). Asummer party is forthcoming and will feature guests HeidiCary Nadiak (teaching fourth grade in Colorado), Annette Hatch-Clein and Lee Clein (living in Bangor, Maine, with newly adopted son Eli), and Debbie Keyek-Franssen (living in Colorado and working on a Y2K project for CU Boulder). When not eloping and partying, Laura teaches third grade in S. Hadley, Mass., but is planning to move to Brattleboro, Vt., where Kurt works. Congrats and thanks for the news, Laura.

Also received a long letter from Carol JoSnyder which, were I to share all the details, would eat up my hard drive space. Pretend you're now reading the back of Carol Jo's baseball card: Recently moved to Jacksonville; husband Bruce divisional CFO with St. Joe company (real estate); sons David 5 and Adam 2 involved in numerous activities; loves house, neighborhood, and Florida; overall extremely happy with move; bats right, throws right.

Oh my goodness, look who's entered the room. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's Austin Powers. "Mr. Powers, do you have any words for the class of '85?" Mr. Powers: "Yeah, baby." It appears Mr. Powers could have been talking to many of our reproducing classmates. Making the jump from man-to-man to zone defense (i.e. adding the third child) were our illustrious class secretary Leslie Dahl (Adelaide Davis Dahl, born April 12), Barry and Pam Bass (Allison Hannah Bass, born April 14) Peterand Amy Harned (William "can't remember his middle name" Harned, born recently), and Chris Mulligan and SarahSherwood (Amelia Mills Mulligan, born Feb. 13). Cheers to all the newborns and their parents!

Sport shorts (these have hardly anything to do with sports, but I thought it was catchy): Mike Young was married June 4 on Cape Cod to Cheryle Windle. Youngster is still a star in the investment banking world, but I believe still yearns for the simpler days of life in The Barn and delivering newspapers. Eric Wilinski reigned victorious in our online Fantasy Hoops league, defeating Mike Lehman, Hubert Smith, and yours truly. I attribute E's victory less to shrewd managerial moves but rather more to sheer luck in the draft. Whatever the key factor, E continues to gloat. Mark Stern was profiled in an article on the next generation of Hollywood executives. Mark is a Trilogy Entertainment Group president of production and lives, you guessed it, in L.A. Stephan Chase joined Microvision (Seattle) as director of investor relations. MarkPerezous was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Mark lives in Lancaster, Pa., and is, using my superior inference skills, an orthopedic surgeon. Julie Katarincic is also an orthopedic surgeon in Pa. I think she lives in Pittsburgh with husband Chris, also an orthopod, but the article from the PittsburghSunday Tribune is a little unclear where Julie lives and works. For the sake of this column, I'll say Pittsburgh. Alex Muromcew drives fast cars and acts as co-manager for the Nicholas-Applegate International Small Cap Growth fond, based in San Diego. Whether Alex also likes fast women and wants to be known as Cruiser is unknown. GregBeasley joined Vicinity Corp. (Palo Alto) as VP of business development. CatherineLeBlanc joined the faculty at Plymouth State College as assistant professor of computer science. Word count says I'm done.
