Cool and cloudy weather could not dampen the spirits of approximately 115'65s, spouses, significant others and children returning for our 35th reunion. The campus never looked more beautiful from the perspective of our class reunion tent, centrally located be!ween Dartmouth Hall and the Fayerweathers. Reunion chairman Mike Bettmann of interesting activities including seminars, concerts, speeches by College officials, picnics, clambakes, golf, tennis, dancing, class auction and just plain fun catching up with old classmates and friends. Mike's attention to detail guaranteed that everything ran smoothly so that everyone had a great time. If you have not recently been to a class reunion, do not miss our 40th and sample some minis between now and then—they really are FUN!

On Tuesday morning outgoing president Jim Griffiths presided over his last class meeting, thanking all of the outgoing class officers; reviewing the major projects and events of his term (highlighted by the Webster Hall '65 Project—the largest single class project in the history of the College); announcing our receipt of the Class Special Recognition Award; highlighting the new Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund (now at $35,839.42 and counting) and, finally, enumerating all of the other significant accomplishments of the great class of 1965 during his term. He expressed his genuine love for and pride in our class and was then given a lengthy and loud standing ovation for a tough job done exceptionally well. Steve Waterhouse, chairman of the nominating committee, then announced the new proposed slate of class officers. In this capacity he had been ably assisted by President Griffiths, Bill Webster and Allen Zern. The officers proposed to serve July 1,2000,tO june30,2005, were as follows president, Hank Amon; secretary, Ken McGruther; head Bettmann and Larry Duffy; planning-giving, Bill Webster; Alumni Council rep., Ted Atkinson; Webmaster, Ward Hindman; 40th reunion treasurer, Mike Gonnerman; vice president (projects), Sven Karlen;vice president (mountains), Ron Riley; vice president (South), open; vice president (West), open; vice president (rest ofworld), Sin Sing Chiu; brewmaster, Larry Litton (newdirector of research at Dartmouth and proposed adopted member of the great class of 1965); 40th reunion co-chairpersons, Nancy and Roger Hansen and Marcia and Peter Frederick. The new slate of officers was then unanimously voted in.

Wednesday nights dinner was held in Alumni Hall at the Hop rather than the D.O.C. House at Occom Pond because of the weather. Head agent Hank Amon and president Jim Griffiths proudly presented College president Jim Wright with a check for $2,750,000—the largest 35th reunion gift in the Colleges history—before a standing ovation. What an accomplishment!! After dinner Steve Waterhouse presided over a very successful class auction.

I have been privileged to serve as your secretary for the class of 1965 for the last five years and I welcome Ken McGruther into this position. We are truly a GREAT CLASS with many interesting classmates, so please provide Ken with plenty of news. Thank you.
