My husband, Quent, and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter, Kaylin Samantha. She was born May 2. Motherhood is quite demanding—much more so than I thought it would be. However, her sweet smiles make sleep deprivation well worthwhile.

I think my threats in recent columns worked. Classmates have been coming out of the woodwork. Sam Cabot wrote to tell me he's working in San Francisco for a small company, Porvenir.com, that provides market and company information for emerging markets worldwide. He's currently handling accounts for large telecom and energy multinationals, and enjoying it. Stephanie Crowley, also in San Francisco, recently eloped with her partner of six years, Mark Guidi. After four years of engagement they were married in North Lake Tahoe. "We hope to stage a vow renewal ceremony in a few years with full reception, so my Alpha Theta brothers and sisters who think they escaped one more 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light' group dance have another thing coming," says Stephanie.

Laurie Gill and her husband Dave Voss 90 welcomed a new son this past December. Gavin David Voss was born on December 13,1999, at Georgetown University Hospital—"only the second D.C. native that we know!" Adrienne Kim is also a new mom. She and husband Colin Bird celebrated the birth of their son Nicholas Aidan Kim Bird on April 7. Adrienne and her family live in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Colin teaches in the government department at UVA. Until recently Adrienne taught Russian at Randolph-Macon Woman's College.

Chris Downie sent an ever-so-brief e-mail to report that after 61/2 years of investment banking, he has joined Broad Street Communications, a start-up telecommunications company in Pittsburgh. Earlier this year Burt Anderson spent time playing for the Quad City Steamwheelers (a minor league for the NFL). He did this part-time, until his "real" full-time took precedent. Burt is working as a project engineer for Salisbury in Chicago and recently celebrated his second wedding anniversary with Maria Milkowski Anderson '93. Jill Russell is now on the East Coast (from California) where her husband, Adam, a captain in the Marine Corps, is stationed at Quantico. This fall Jill will begin her Ph.D. in history, with a focus on military history, at George Washington University.
