Greetings, friends! As I write this column, summer is waning. I hope you all have had great summers, filled with fun times.
Congratulations to Rob Leathern, who got engaged in August to Amanda Bardin, who graduated from Stanford in 1998. They currently live in Berkeley, California. Congrats also go out to Alison Lokey, who married Kirk Easter of Missoula, Montana, July 21 in Missoula. Alison moved to Montana after graduation. She wrote, "We had a beautiful outdoor wedding and Kendra Buzzell was one of my attendants and Caroline Chubb and Nicole Weinreb were also in attendance. I am starting my fourth year of teaching middle school and my husband is also a teacher of middle school—orchestra."
Sarah Kopplin dropped me a line in August. She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is working on her masters degree in conservation biology and ecosystem management at the University of Michigan. "This fall, I am raising my new puppy (a Dalmatian named Cosmo) and writing my thesis on the freshwater mussels of a river near Ann Arbor," Sarah wrote. "I plan on graduating in December. After that, who knows?!" Sarah said she had recently spent a week in California visiting Dave Belden, who recently was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing six months of chemotherapy. Thankfully, she said, Dave is doing well.
In California they met up with Tom Arnold and they went to the Museum of Modern Art with Kelley Hart. Kelley had just finished her summer job at a law firm in San Francisco. She was heading out on a trip to Mammoth and then back to law school in Los Angeles.
Sarah said she also has kept in touch with Laura du Pont, who recently moved into a new apartment and is working for the Guggenheim online museum in New York City. Sarah said she had a great time visiting Caroline Chubb for her birthday in May. "She had just moved into a gorgeous new condominium right in the middle of Chicago, Sarah wrote. She had been traveling the world and is working hard for Nextera."
Jeanne M. Dilorio recently sent in an update. She is still living in New York City with Shelley Castro. Shelley left her job as a buyer at InStyleMagazine earlier this year and is now a marketing manager at Victorias Secret Beauty. Shelley is still dating Dan Liebsch '98, who works for PriceWaterhouse Coopers. "We recently celebrated Kerry McCloskey s engagement to Ben Matlosz," Jeanne wrote. "Ben proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Congratulations, Kerry and Ben!"
Jeanne left her job with Nomura and has been enjoying some leisure time. She and her boyfriend Brad Altberger (Wharton '94) spent a few months traveling around Australia, New Zealand and French Polynesia. On the way back to New York they stopped in Los Angeles, where they met up with Corrie Lyle and Alison Fragale. Corrie graduated from University of Southern California's law school this spring and Alison is pursuing a graduate degree in psychology at Stanford. When I saw Alison she had just completed a 600-mile charity bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles!" Jeanne wrote.
In September Jeanne will attend the wedding of Kristen Croker and Charlie Fiordalis '98. She said there will be plenty of Dartmouth alums in attendance, including maid of honor Rachel Wellner and bridesmaids Cara Hobbs, Misong Kim and Lynda Cowin'96.
Take care everyone. Keep up the adventures, and please be in touch.
