Classmates, since you will read this in June, the tales of snow and cold may be somewhat abated, but the class "Out of Hanover" reunion in Vail March 8-12 was a smashing success. I can do no better than give you Steve Water house's summary from Vail:
"What a great weekend! Our class started gathering on Thursday; the last people left on Monday evening. In between, 24 classmates, wives and friends gathered: Hank and Karen Amon, Ted Atkinson and Marcia Pride, Carl Boe, Tom and Diane Campbell, Norm and Ellen Christianson, Dick Durrance and Susan Drinker, Jim and Debbie Griffiths, Charles, Todd and Caroline Lafiura, Chuck and Gretchen Lobitz, Ron and Ann Riley, Marshall and Dianne Wallach, Steve and Linda Water house.
"Because of the great storm that hit the East Coast, several participants had to scramble to rearrage travel plans. But once there, the skiing was outstanding, due to some of the best Vail powder ever. After an all-Sunday, all-night snow fall, not a single slope on the mountain had less than a foot of powder on Monday.
"The weekend also included wine tasting; dinners at the Kaltenburg Castle (Vails local hofbrau house), Russell's (classmate Ron Riley's restaurant) and breaking bread at two of Vails great 'on mountain' lunching spots; snowshoeing across the top of Vail Mountain on Saturday night and gathering around a roaring fire in the Game Creek Club with some more fine wine and food. Those present celebrated the class's collective 58th birthday at the Game Creek Club, which featured a '1965 Big Green' birthday cake."
Snaps, Steve, you really know how to put it together! On a roll, Steve offers to all that an "Out of Hanover" reunion is being planned for Hong Kong in the 2002-2003,50 start saving up your frequent flyer miles.
Ted Atkinson has joined Home-Link Services as executive vice president for marketing, a field in which Ted has excelled over the years in a number of positions, including as an independent consultant.
Jim Danielson writes that following Dartmouth, he attended University of Washington Law School and has been practicing law in We natchee, Washington, for close to 30 years since. He still is far from contemplating retirement, still having one child in college, enjoying his lawpractice too much to put it down and having insti- tuted a mandatory with-pay sabbatical in his law firm that has allowed him to take six months off with pay every five years or so, which serves as sort of a working retirement. Jim and wife Carol recently moved into the grandparent category in fine style (twins). They get back to Hanover every four to five years or so and keep in touch with other classmates such as Bob Murphy and wife Brigid.
On a personal note, I was in England recently. Couldn't hike on the Devon Moors, but I was able to get in a couple of rounds at the Dartmouth Country Club there. Take care all! Plan on the mini in October. Hope to see many of you there.
