Ann Hoover Maddox called from the road in New Hampshire to report sighting a large billboard promoting Bruce Keough for governor. She was completely surprised, so I had to admonish her for not having been a faithful reader of this column. With friends like that....Anyway, Annie caught up with Andy Peterson, in the midst of his campaign for a seat in the New Hampshire State Senate.
News from the 49th state, where Audie Lenagh Bakewell (whom you may remember as Tod), owns and runs Paxon Alpine Tours & Denali Highway Cabins: "I offer wildlife viewing, river rafting, fishing, dogsledding, snowmachining (that's 'snowmobiling' to nonAlaskans), photo safaris, and nature hikes. The fairly extensive Web site is www.denalihwy. com. My little empire is in a location known as Paxson. It doesn't really exist, as in the 36,000 square miles surrounding me there are only 24 or so humans—and 38,000 caribou—but the roadhouse I own was built in 1907 by a fellow named Paxson, so the name sticks. I have run into classmate Gail Fondahl several times in my drives to and from Alaska. She's living in northern British Columbia (at University of Northern 8.C.), about 1,300 miles to my south—but that's only about seven towns away!"

After spending the 'Bos in France and the '9os in the USA, Charlie Allen and his family moved to Switzerland. "Geneva is a very good place to raise a family and we appreciate the proximity to France. I am the marketing manager for the Middle East. My employer, Bunge, is a major grain and oilseed trader, and I am enjoying the challenge."
