So, this was a close one. I was at the Class Notes submission deadline with zero to report. EEEKK! But we were rescued at the last moment by some of our classmates and have some pretty interesting updates. First, Jaha Cummings sent me news about Dartmouth alums who he has met while in Asia. In late November, Jaha was in Tokyo, running to the airport express train at Ueno Station when he had a chance encounter with Teru Bower. Teru had just arrived from the airport. Jaha did not say what he had been doing in Tokyo nor did he give me any information about Tern's visit in Tokyo. In late February Jaha was in a hotel in the Marshall Islands in a hotel when he noticed a British-looking man carrying a camera with a Dartmouth camera strap. He approached the individual and discovered that he was professor Andrew Garrod, the chair of the education department. The professor was in Majuro leading a Dartmouth leaveterm program in the Marshall Islands.
Scott Thompson e-mailed to say that he had moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, from Washington, D.C., last August 2001. Scott apparently spent the previous four years working at the State Department and in Congress. Scott is now a first-year law student at UVA and tells me that his first year has been going well. He will be working at a law firm in Atlanta, Georgia, this summer. Other '95s in Scott's class include Walker Richmond and Scott Meacham. Scott sees a good bit of Gina Vetere, who is a second-year law student at UVA, and Anne Hawk, who is a third-year medical student. Jim Mahoney wrote to me about his present circumstances as high school administrator and aspiring musician. Jim says that he is working St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, as the senior associate director of missions and as coach of the squash and baseball teams. Jim, apparently, could not get enough of dorm life as he is presently living with his family in a dorm with 31 male students. Jim, himself, has two kids—Tommy, who is 6, and Molly, who is 5. Jims wife, Katie (UNH '94), teaches first grade in Concord. Lastly, Jim took up guitar after graduation and recently wrote and recorded a CD of original rock music with his twin brother called The Mahoneys (available at www.mahobros.com). Jim and his brother will be playing shows around New England with a full band this sumadmer and fall. And some final news. Cathy Kim is finishing her first year at Tuck School of Business. She tells me that Vil Ramos is also in her class. She also says that anyone coming up to Dartmouth (for fun or to visit Tuck) should look her up. Thanks everyone for sending me your news.
