This world gets smaller every day. For me, there are connections with classmates that I don't know about until I need to write the classmates obit. Bill Duncan died August 1,2002. His obit referred to the fact that he died in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I had a very good friend living there so I asked: "Did Bill know Don?" Reply from his family, "Yes, indeed Bill knew Don Chester. He lived in the same group of apartments. Bill liked him a lot and had his memorial program sitting on his table." The other classmate was Don Brown, M.D., who came to Dartmouth from The Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut. I have a close friend who was at Loomis at the time. Of course they were classmates."
"Doc" Darnley writes the Class Notes for the Dartmouth Medical School class of 1941. Thought you might be interested in what your old friends are doing. Art French was not answering his phone because, as his machine said, he was out of town. He was on a South American cruise including five days around Antarctica. They have taken many tours and cruises and when they are out of town you can let your imagination roam—they are probably there. It takes lots of energy for these trips, and they must have it in spades.
A note from Alberta Eiseman: "Dartmouth meant alot to Al. He thoroughly enjoyed his 60th reunion, as did I."
From Gard Ashley: "I am deeply saddened by the obits of some of the greats of the class. It's been a privilege knowing Stet and Joe since meeting them on the B&M on that cold November afternoon heading home for Thanksgiving."
Ike Weed sent thanks for his birthday card and hopes the Good Lord permits him to keep receiving them. "Hazel and I had dinner with Sally and Howard Wriggins, who are very busy with their writing projects."
Ann Berger received a note from Mary Sullivan (Jim Sullivan's widow): "Thank you for your thoughtful note in behalf of the class of 1940.I deeply appreciate it and to know that Jim's classmates will be giving a book to Baker Library in his memory."
Please continue sending obits to the Alumni Records Office and to me. Obits of deceased classmates and spouses make a difference, as noted above.
