Wilfred W. “Bill” Martin Jr. died on December 2, 2008. He was born in Oklahoma City and lived in Vero Beach, Florida, for 30 years. He was president of Flynn Oil Co. An obituary will appear at some point in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. John William Ormond died on August 14, 2008. He was a graduate of Tulane Law School. As well as his role as a labor attorney, he was a community activist and realtor. An obituary will also appear in the alumni magazine. Art Pounds writes from San Diego that he has been a “lousy provider of fodder lately for either the newsletter or the alumni magazine.” He compliments Bob on the great job he and Peg are doing on the newsletter. We agree! Bill Ashley writes from Jackson, Wyoming, that there are lots of “O” graduates there but he is the only ’45. “Hope to hear from somebody,” he says. Miriam Sommer writes from New Haven about her family’s (Goldstein) connections to Dartmouth, especially her brother Joe ’44 and David ’45, and how much these have meant and continue to mean to her. She sends best wishes to Trude Butler and to all of the class of ’45. This will be my last column of class notes as I am resigning my position as class secretary for health reasons. Craig Cain has agreed to assume the position and I am sure he will do a fine job. He and Jocelyn have been a great help during my tenure and I thank them very much for that.
