Easter Sunday, and we still have snow in spots, but crocuses and daffodils plus a few forsythia bushes are brightening our landscape. It was a long, cold winter from October to April, and everyone is glad to see the end of it.

Had a nice note from Dick Eberline, who gives a big "hurrah!" for Dud Orr's contribution for coeducation at Dartmouth—a much needed change.

Leland Hill Mandlebaum, widow of Maurie, died this late winter at Kendal in Hanover.

The week before Easter, Rip's 62-year-old son, Cary, died suddenly of natural causes. He was the one of his three off spring who had enjoyed good health! His widow, two married children, six grandchildren, a brother, Robert '71, and sister survive him, along with Rip.

When Bill Scherman 34 lost his 54-year-old son some years ago, Rip wrote him a verse to read at the service in California. I will use it, this time for Rip: "I railed in protest Then at last I wept Till father commanded Be thou wise: Accept."
