Hello '88s! Keep your eyes and ears out for future gatherings created by our regional participation chairs: Monique Burns (Boston), John Replogle (lead, Connecticut and metropolitan New York), Jere Mancini (New Jersey and metropolitan New York), Dave Duckenfield (southern Florida), Dave Roth (Chicago), Alec Frisch (San Francisco), Paula Zagrecki (Los Angeles) and Jeff Albright (Pacific Northwest). Advance thanks to these classmates whose role will be to coordinate class mini-reunions and interface with the local Dartmouth clubs. They will also help us drive participation on a local level for our 20th reunion. If anyone wants to step forward to volunteer for their area, e-mail john. replogle@unilever.com.
In May Tim Dowries was appointed as the new director of athletics and recreation at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tim will be responsible for managing the athletics and recreation program, which includes 26 intercollegiate sports, 11 club sports, an intramural program and other recreational and wellness activities. Previously he was the director of athletics at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. During his tenure Caltech's athletic program reached unprecedented levels of success and growth, as the men's and women's tennis, women's basketball, women's swimming and women's water polo teams all set or tied the school single-season win records, while the women's track and field and volleyball teams achieved their highest conference finishes in school history. Earlier in his career Tim earned a J.D. from Washington and Lee School of Law (1993), worked at Johns Hopkins and in the Patriot League, and coached at Washington and Lee University. Tim and his wife, Beth, are the proud parents of a daughter, Kelley, 31/2, and a son, Andrew, 18 months.
Adam Rabiner was recently motivated to send an update: "There are certain times in your life that you feel you have enough news to write in to your Class Notes writer." (Though really, folks, you can write anytime, with a funny story or recollection from the "good ole days") 'And this is one of them for me. In April I married Dina Siber (George Washington University '91) at the Boat House Restaurant in Central Park. Dartmouth attendees included classmates Andrew Paulsen, Saad Iqbal, Adam Usadi and John Feinstein. After the ceremony we took a gondola ride in the lake and an elegant carriage home after the party. We then traveled to Morocco for three weeks for our honeymoon. I started a new job July 21 at the New York State Banking Department, where I am the director of outreach and financial education programs, helping to promote financial literacy throughout New York State. This job will draw upon my career in public service working with various New York City agencies, as well as upon the M.B.A. I received from NYU's Stern Business School in 2002. Dina and I have purchased a great co-op on Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn. This marks a great transition for the life of a New Yorker, that from lifelong renter to first time homeowner." And finally, as if that wasn't enough, Adam and Dina are expecting a child in February 2005!
Jamie "Safe Date" Myers was the first victim of my 'Dialing-for-Updates" campaign. MIA since our fifth reunion, Jamie has been living in Tampa, Florida, for the past six years. Working for a small law firm, he mainly represents contractors in construction litigation. When he is not pro-golfing or windsurfing, he and his wife, Allene, are kept on their toes by their daughter, Anne (7 years).
For the rest of you who have yet to connect with classmates through the AlumniMagazine,we hope to hear from you; no, you do not have to wait until you amass what feels like worthy news, it is just plain interesting to hear where people are and what they are doing!
