I was as naive as a 19th-century schoolgirl when I agreed to take on the job of writing this column—totally clueless. I did not know, for example, that my material would be due in Hanover two months before it would appear in print; or that, for our class, there is a 350 word limit; or that there is a 19-page directive titled DAM (Dartmouth Alumni Magazine)Style, which tells me how to write; or that once my material has been returned to me for proofreading, no substantive changes may be made.
On October 11-12 Aaron Stevens plans to join Glen Fitkin, Jacques Harlow, John Weber and Cul Modisette in Hanover for the 10-year reunion of a group who paddled the Sheenjek River in northern Alaska.
Dick Hollands, whose wife, Elizabeth, succumbed after eight years of nursing homes due to Alzheimer's, has moved to a condo at 1530 Spring Gate Drive (#914), McLean, VA22102.
