Greetings classmates. Hope everyone has enjoyed the summer and is back into the swing of fall activities, football games, soccer, school fun, etc.

It is said "around the girdled earth they roam." This was true for Daniel Nixon '55 and son Asa Nixon. Daniel wrote, "Hanover was too warm for us so my son Asa and I traveled to Great Bear Lake north of the Arctic Circle for some worldclass fishing. The first thing we saw was a Dartmouth sweatshirt belonging to Mike Giles '04. While we were talking green,' Phil Mayer 55 came over and joined us." It sounds like truly an amazing experience.

Also wandering far from Hanover is classmate Karin Finkelstein. She is not just traveling but is living in Beijing. Karin is working for the International Finance Corp. of the World Bank, running the southeast Asia division. Karin has been in Beijing for nine years. Jenny Beatty Thomas was lucky enough to wander over to Beijing last year to visit Karin Jenny lives with husband Owen in Bronxville, New York. They have three children, Hank (9), Martha (6) and Mae (2).

I myself wandered up to Boston to visit some Dartmouth friends. While there I chatted with Rich Durante. Rich and wife Brooke live in Needham, Massachusetts. They have three children, Noa (10), Crea (7) and Milo (6), who keep them busy with various activities. Rich and a friend started theirown company, Observant, about two years ago. The company does marketing consulting for the healthcare industry with a focus on pharma companies.

I heard from the old Dartmouth golf coach Izzy Johnson. She gave me an update about Cindy Vaios. Cindy is currently a LPGA teaching professional at Ridgewayin White Plains, New York. Cindy visited her ex coach and played in the LPGA teaching division championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina, in July. Cindy was on the first Dartmouth women's golf team that won the ECAC championship in 1983. Congratulations to Cindy!
