Although Peter Cardozo may "scoop" me, here's some classmate news. Ev Woodman writes that 2 006 was a lost year for him.Two unanticipated operations kept him in hospitals for most of the year. Gene Weeks' daughter Louise Thorndike reports that her parents have moved to a retirement home in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gene is in assisted living and is very popular with the staff. Mildreds lovely apartment is in an adjacent building. Dick Baldauf and wife Sue plan to enter a retirement home in Roanoke, Virginia, this spring. Their daughter, grandson and families, including their only great-grandchild, live nearby. The Baldaufs have been wintering in Englewood Florida, an hour south of Sarasota, where Ev and I enjoyed winter sojourns in the 19905. Dick and I reminisced about 'getting together at Sarasota Dartmouth club luncheons, often attended by other classmates, the late Charlie Spiltoir, Pep Gray and John Gauntlett.

Jim Andersons widow, Lydia wrote to express her thanks for John Litchfield's fine story in the December 39 Out about the 10th Mountain Division in WWII. Jim was one of the '39ers in that famous outfit. Howard Rowe's widow, Charlotte, sent her new address and a very generous gift in Howards memory to the Class of 1939 Scholarship Fund, the one part of our class that will always be a living part of Dartmouth. A newsy letter just received from Erwin "Duke" Lyon reminded Evelyn and me of many great times with Duke and Julia at the wonderful log cabin home the late Bob Dickgiesser and Mary had built high on a hill in Hartford, Vermont, six miles south of Hanover. Dukes letter contains too much for my limited space. I am passing it on to Peter.
