The fall mini was a great success in spite of a few glitches along the way. Kudos to Wemo Epply and Burt Bickford. Good weather and Dartmouth's victory over Penn contributed to the pleasure of the 56 classmates, widows and guests in attendance.
Some highlights of the executive committee meeting were: 1) Should the 65 th have a major reunion book, a new directory or smaller combination of both? Steve Tate will research. 2) Memorable dates were announced: 2008 mini, October 8-10; 2009 65th, October 2-4.3) Conditions at the '44 Place—who maintains, college or class? Clint Gardner will report on needs and who will meet them. 4) Bill Hale agreed to extend his term as gift planning officer. 5) No Florida mini in the works; class will publicize and promote if someone organizes one. 6) Possible amendments to class constitution were tabled until executive committee members have read the constitution. 7) Need to look into more projects for the class.
Highlights of the class meeting included a short discussion of both sides of the Dartmouth trustees question and reports from class officers. Ben Jones lauded the great class of 44. Only one other class had more dues-paying members ('44 had 80 percent), and said hed like to hit 100 percent in the 65 th reunion year. Burt Bickford feels that we may need to raise dues. Bill Hale reported on bequests—largest percentage of all classes. And Clint Gardner read the names of 19 classmates who died since the 2006 mini. We adjourned at 8:45.
We regret to report the death of Laurence W. Widdecombe. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
