Along with writing these columns, class secretaries are charged with writing the obituaries at the back of the issue. I have a full shelf of yearbooks, Green Books, alumni directories, etc., which I consult in putting one together in hopes that it can be complete and accurate. Alas, I must apologize to Elsie, Russ Palmers widow, for getting her name wrong and appreciate her letting me know about it. We hope she'll join several other '48 widows at reunion in June. Pat McAllister reports a record number of distaff participants already signed UP.

The wide campus of University of Phoenix has appointed Gene Finke to a dean's position for the Santa Teresa/El Paso area. He and Connie expect to be on the Hanover campus at reunion time. Gene has been in education and community service in the El Paso area for many years.

Kudos to Sonny "Rem" Drury for many long hours of trying to reconnect with classmates who have chosen not to participate in alumni activities for their own reasons. Along the way he discovered that Bob Sebilian s and Bill Felton's deaths had gone unreported. Obits are forthcoming.

If you'd like to get all the dope on the class including the details about reunion activities try www.alum.dartmouth.org/classes/48/. Pete Foster labors hard to keep it updated. This includes minutes of class meetings so that you'll be aware of what Foxy Parker is doing with your dues money. Since Prexy Warren Daniell reactivated the executive committee this year, you won't be wanting for comprehensive information.

In case you forgot, we are trying to update information on classmates in print form to be disseminated before reunion time. You don't need to wait for a form to do it. Just send an email or a good, old fashioned USPS letter. My address is at the bottom of the column.

Having escaped snow and cold 47 years ago in the move to San Diego, a good number of family members have gone even farther and settled in Hawaii. That means that we had an aloha Christmas this year for the first time. Happy St. Pattys Day to you all!
