Our class president Beth "Bobo" Krakower leads off for me this month: In the July/August edition of the Club Notes I was credited for something that truthfully, I have not had any participation in. The 'club-to-class' initiative was conceived of and spearheaded solely by our class VP and new class information officer, Anne Tisi. While we were trying to promote the 15th reunion, Anne thought it would be helpful if the clubs promoted class activities and vice versa. After being told by several people that there was no official system in place to do this, she started contacting club officers and '93 club members city by city and compiled the information in what is now our class event e-mails. For the clubs that did not respond, she went directly to the Web sites. However, most club responses have been overwhelmingly positive, so thank you to these Dartmouth club officers for being among the first to respond with event updates and getting the ball rolling: Andrea Lordan '86, Dartmouth Club of Greater Boston, and Meredeth Winter '89, Dartmouth Club of Maine. Anne would also like to thank these '93s for sending her updates about club, DOC and Young Alumni of Dartmouth Activities happenings in their towns before the ball got rolling: Farrell Page Harwood, Atlanta; Susy Strubie and Craig Sakowitz, DOC of northern California; Veree Hawkins Brown, Dallas; Olaf Minge, Minneapolis; Nicole Nelson, New York City. If you're not receiving these event updates and would like to or have event info to add about your town, please contact anneptisi@aol.com.
Bobo also wrote that she spotted Annie Edgerton on the pitcher's mound at Shea Stadium. Annie wasn't standing in for Johan Santana, she was singing the National Anthem (and it wasn't her first time either!). She's also sung for the Giants and the Dodgers and has now set her sights on singing at every stadium. Personally, I'd like to see her get some American League teams under her belt. It might take Annie a little time to get to all of the parks because she is touring with Mamma Mia! until the fall. Over the July 4th weekend Annie sung the lead in Washington, D.C. She'll tour until the fall and then return to New York to either hit Yankee Stadium or get another gig.
Baby roll call time: lan Haft reports that his son Louis Tisne Haft was born on March 11. "The last three months have been great. Claire and I are just overjoyed with the little guy." In January lan joined GenNx3so Capital Part ners as a principal. "GenNx is a new private equity fund with half a billion dollars under management focused on sponsoring buyouts of industrial companies."
Craig Sakowitz, who along with wife Sharon Karlsberg '96 is expecting a small Sakowitz in the 6- to 8-pound range to join his Burning Man camp in September of this year, reports from San Francisco: "I am surrounded by the glories of our class here in green northern California. The Dartmouth Outing Club of northern California maintains an incredible lakeside cabin on the Pacific Crest Trail in the high Sierras and is heavily run by our class: Susy Struble and I are president and VP, respectively, and Jen Cohn is leading our capital campaign to save the cabin for the next 60 years of alumni use."
