As Bob Joy announced in the May issue, I, Craig Cain, have agreed to take the responsibility for these Class Notes back as secretary of the class. My first thought is to thank Bob for the great job he has done for the last four years. We are indebted to him and will miss his ideas and contributions. Other classmates are welcome to take over entire columns or send me short contributions. Keep in mind that Green Cards go to Bob Tirrell for the newsletter, not to the secretary for these Class Notes in DAM.

From Fred Berthold we have the following ideas about Dartmouth’s new president, Dr. Jim Yong Kim. Every faculty friend with whom he has talked is delighted with the choice. Then came an additional enthusiastic endorsement from Fred’s son, head of the health science department at City College of San Francisco, with many years of involvement in world health problems on assignments in Central America, Nepal, Sudan and Zimbabwe. He is well acquainted with Dr. Kim’s writings and work and thinks there is no one better.

On another subject, I would like to invite classmates, wives and widows to the Norwich Inn luncheon held the second Tuesday of most months. The ideas and discussions that are presented are always interesting. Matt Marshall, our honorary member who was manager of the Hanover Inn and is now head of the Hanover Improvement Society, contributes news of the College and town and, in addition, his son is a freshman on the very successful Dartmouth ski team.

Plan to come early to the class mini in Hanover September 20-21 for the Sunday afternoon all-college reception for Lee Kreindler, which may well include an appearance of our new president, Dr. Kim.
