While on vacation in September I had the pleasure of finding Hayden Connor up on the Franklin-Laconia road. You will recall the letter from Hayden in the last class report, telling most interestingly of the establishing of "Hirams." Hayden is looking well, feels great, and has a very attractive filling station with lunch facilities. He reported that Charlie Luce, Harry Bullard and Harold Palmer had all been there recently.

George A. Reed of Montpelier, Vt., was, last June, elected grand chancellor for the grand lodge of the Knights of Pythias for the state of Vermont.

On Sept. 14, 1940, Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hibbard Kenerson, was married to Mr. Cleveland Dodge Rea of Pittsburgh, Pa., at Winchester, Mass.

Lewis Haney has made application for membership in the 1903 Grandfathers' Club. Lewis proclaims to the 1903 world that little Nancy Ann West, born March Bth, may some day be queen of the winter carnival.

Harold and Grace Hess spent their vacation at Sugar Hill, N. H., and at the close visited senior Bob Hess at Hanover. Father Hess says he has had keen enjoyment watching the 2nd develop at Hanover, and in comparing his own efforts with those of his son.

Orvil and Amy Smith, Harry and Edith Watson enjoyed a ten day trip up through the Laurentian country to Lake St. John in Canada this summer. The fish stories they brought back were merely commonplace, but then those boys are old timers on the end of a line. Fred Baker, George Reed, Doc Linnell, and Ned Kenerson would tell bigger yarns.

The death of Laurence Swan M.D. of Beverly, Mass., on Oct. 2d, removes another sturdy son of Dartmouth and of our class. A hard worker without thought of self, never seeking popularity or preferment, he became a beloved physician. The heartfelt sympathy of the class is extended to his family.

Victor M. Cutter is author of Is PlanningPractical for Your Town?, published by the National Resources Planning Board through the New England Regional Plan. ning Commission. It appears in Publication No. 60.

The report of the treasurer of the class recently sent to each member, shows a fine result of his efforts. When we consider that the ALUMNI MAGAZINE subscriptions have for the past two years included every graduate and non-graduate, the amount still in the treasury is gratifying. That some nongrads should have lost their interest in Dartmouth and the class is but natural. By excluding them, at their request, we shall reduce our expenditure.
