Feast or famine! A trite phrase, yet descriptive of the variation of news income from one month to another. Blame it on slow mail service or on the preoccupation of many men with important unfinished business. The fact remains that there's not much to report this time. But here's what there is

Thank you, Mr. Horn, for writing us about Bud's doings:—

Bud was advanced last Spring to the rank of lieutenant USNR; and was detached from the mine-sweeper of which he was executive officer, and assigned to the command of another similar craft. During the past fifteen months he has been sailing about in the South Seas, involving plenty of hard work, long., hours and enemy action, amidst excessive heat and humidity. Recently he received a special commendation for some feat "beyond the line of duty," but he failed to tell us what he had done or when or where. Prior to the above, his boat was on duty along the West Coast and the Aleutians, where he experienced quite some adventures, also undisclosed to us. Bud has reported meeting a number of Dartmouth boys during his various travels, so, between them all and after the war, you should be able to obtain some very interesting stories of some of the Navy's accomplishments in the Pacific. Mail for Bud, if addressed to 138 Manor Road, Staten Island, N. Y., will be forwarded to him.

Captain Norm Simon was among the officers from the Army and Navy Medical Corps who completed on September 2 the. twenty- third medical officers' course of the Chemical Warfare Service at Edgewood Arsenal, Md.

Ensign Jocko Morrison reports to Washington for several weeks—and then expects an assignment in the vicinity of Buffalo, to work on war contract termination.

Mrs. Dick Ruby writes that August 16 was a mighty big day for their family. Richard Jr. made his debut, and "Pop" received his motion to lieutenant colonel. Dick returned to overseas duty last January and is with the Marine Fourth Division in the Marianas.
