This month's installment will be strongly tinged with a metropolitan New York flavor,, which may be OK for the boys around the Big City, but is hardly representative of the class. Obviously the reason lies with a dearth of information from the mid-western, southern, and western portions of the country. To keep the record straight we received not one letter from a classmate, other than a few down-right solicited requests. We can hardly be expected to sit down and write six-hundred and twenty-five requests for news each month! And what about a few snapshots maybe an informal shot of the family, a father-and-son-or-daughter snap, or a quick one of the boys at an informal gathering?
HF.RE AND THERE: Bob Catherine is busy pursuing the admirable goal of digging out the silt and mud of the Hudson River as it washes into the choice berthing spots of the luxury liners in New York Harbor. Of course he is drawing a salary from Henry Du Bois Sons Co., Inc., at 17 State St., N. Y. C. We strongly suspect that some of this salary was used to purchase a compact Cape Cod house in Harrison, N. Y. C., you'd see some feverish activity in connection with some new construction of the latest in office buildings.. There's a big sign in front of the construction telling all who are interested that Tishman & Co. are doing the work. And if you guessed that Al Tishman was part of the outfit, you'd be right Bill Webster recently left his- home in Scarsdale, N. Y., with wife Bunny, and sons, Bill Jr. and Tommy, for the Mirimar Hotel, Santa Monica,- Calif. He'll be there for five or six months, overseeing the conversion of some DC-3S on behalf of a new International Airlines with which he is connected While vacationing in York, Maine, your secretary looked out of his bed-room wind ow and watched Don Wheaton take one set in a losing singles match against nationally ranked Hal Surface in the August Maine State Tennis Championships. THE CLEARING HOUSE: One of the most important positions in the class organization is that of Class Agent. Without going into details, it is evident that such a position should be filled with a capable and energetic man. Your class officers, in conjunction with the College, have appointed Dune Farr to assume the responsibilities from Pem Pleasants. To Pem, go the profound thanks of the class, for a tough job ably handled, especially under the trying conditions of maintaining a traveling job during the busy Fund campaign months. To Dune goes the complete support of the class officers, and I'm sure the support of the entire class. To assist Dune, with timely editorial support, Jerry Beatty has succeeded President J. Moreau Brown as editor of the newsletter "Thirty-Nine Out." Jerry has already written his first installment, which speaks for itself. Once again, thanks are in order for Brownie, who spent many long years, and much personal time to keep us up on the news. With his present duties as Director of Admissions, at St. Lawrence University, he has earned a well-deserved respite from '39 editorial work.
