A telegram received by Acting-Secretary Herb Hirschland in Hanover, from the '39 delegation of the Pacific-Northwest set the tune for our first Hanover reunion over the weekend of July 13th. It read as follows: "With a thought for those who can never be there, greetings from us in the Pacific-Northwest. Trusting you will have an enjoyable reunion and wishing that we could be there 'when good fellows get together.'" Signed Otis Lamson, Colin Holman, Parker Paul, Bill Hyde, and Dick White.

We got off to a slow start, despite the above warm greeting, when the '39 Softball team failed to materialize on Friday afternoon, but it was all downhill after that. Bert MacMannis, with the able help of Bill Webster, Don Wheaton, Jerry Beatty, Wes Goding, Bill Cunningham, Dune Farr, and Dusty Rohde, whipped up a smooth-running schedule of gala events which unfolded with beautiful precision. In the opinion of the writer, it would be a rare '39er who would not highly endorse the weekend's activity.

The party was officially opened with a class banquet at the Inn, Friday night, which was attended by approximately sixty classmates and forty wives. Following the banquet, the class moved on individually to the President's reception at the home of President Dickey. A beer gathering at the '39 tent, just north of Hitchcock Hall and extremely handy to the class headquarters at Giie, saw the arrival of many more '39ers to swell our numbers.

The success of the evening's entertainment could best be gauged by the few members who managed to struggle into 13 Carpenter to witness the Class Movies scheduled for 9 A.M. the following morning. Because of the lack of a quorum at this time the election of Class Officers was postponed until the Buffet Luncheon at the Inn. At this election, J.Moreau Brown was elected President, DickJackson, Secretary (which should explain the change in authorship of these notes), DustyRohde, Treasurer, and Dune Farr, Reunion Chairman. These Officers were elected to remain in office until the next reunion, which is somewhat vaguely scheduled for three years hence, although no official word has been received from the College as to whether reunions will revert to the normal status of five-year periods, or whether the present system will prevail.

At two o'clock Saturday afternoon the entire class gathered at Storr's Pond for a beer picnic and swimming, and following this we enjoyed a Barbecue Picnic at the Oak Hill Cabin. At 9:30 P.M., many of the Class viewed the Dartmouth Players in their rendition of Love Rides the Rails. Other Class members tapped a beer keg set up comfortably in the '39 tent, and procured only through the expert manipulations of Bert MacMannis.

Sunday morning at 10:00 A.M., the Union Memorial Service was held in Rollins Chapel with Roy Chamberlin '38 and our own Steve (Fran) Bachelder '39 officiating.

Following is the only known list of those present at the reunion. It can not be considered as a complete record in as much as it became increasingly difficult to check late arrivals as the party progressed. To those who have been inadvertently omitted, our apologies, but we're sure, having been there yourself, you can appreciate our problems. For the sake of an accurate record, your new ecretary would appreciate a postcard from s persons who have been omitted.
