HERE & THERE: We were up Hartford way a few weeks ago and spent a happy hour or so chatting with Buzz and Janie Waters. Buzz is back with the Aetna Life Ins. Co., and has been spending every available bit of spare time this winter polishing-up the old ski form in Woodstock, Manchester, etc., until it (the l'orm) shines like the pre-war Hanover model. .... Tonight we opened an envelope that was officially marked "New England Mutual" expecting it to be from some guy who thinks we don't value our life to the proper degree. But surprise,—it was from a Mr. Donald Hopkins who very graciously sent on the interesting news that Russ Fette was recently appointed brokerage manager of the St. Louis general agency of the above named company. The letter went on to say that Russ served in the Navy for 4.1/2 years and held the rank of lieutenant commander at the time of release. Just to finish the picture, it was reported that Russ has spent practically- his whole life in China, and is the secretary-treasurer of the Peking Polo Club, a member of the Peking Club, Rotary Club, and Masonic bodies. A short time ago he married Miss Agnes Cordelia See of St. Louis Kev Fay can be found in Newing- ton, Conn, (just outside of Hartford for the uninitiated) where he is a resident doctor with the Veterans Administration Hospital. Kev, and wife Evelyn, boast of a two-year-old son, whose name is also Kevin, of course Chuck Farnum is apparently still in the Army, and if we have properly doped out the questionaire he sent in some time ago, he might be located at the 161 st General Hospital, Fort Brooke, San Juan, Puerto Rico. We won't even hazard a guess as to the whereabouts of wife Betty and son Charles G. III.

John Egbert is with Frost & Jacobs, Attorneys, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he has been "operating" since October. John's family now consists of wife Louisa, daughter Louisa (4) and son John 111. (2) We are wondering what Walt Darby is doing of late. Our latest report via the questionnaire route lists his business occupation as "At liberty," but we happen to know that Walt has just very successfully knocked over a law course complete with degree at Fordham University. Other than that, we know that Walt is married and has two sons, Walt 111 (3) and Douglas (1) Ed (Mike) Daley is a research chemist with Monsanto Chemical Cos., plastics division, in Springfield, Mass., where he lives with wife Elizabeth Doctor Ted Dakin is "enjoying" a fellowship at Northwestern University after three long years in the Army. Dake is married to Alice (Richardson) Dakin and has a two-year-old daughter, named Erica Bob Cushman, pretty wife Polly, and daughterPolly (4) can be found in Syracuse, N. Y. Bob is with the Norton Cos., makers of abrasives and grinding machinery.

Ralph Holben is in Stockholm, Sweden, where he has a Swedish Government Scholarship from the Svenska Institutet for the pursuit of economic research in Sweden. Says Ralph, "I have been in Stockholm since the first of the year where I am writing my Ph.D. thesis for Columbia University. I am also attending the University of Stockholm. Sweden is a grand country with plenty of everything; an excellent place for a summer vacation, if you want to travel." .... O'Brien Boldt is an analyst concerned with the city planning of Philadelphia Jack Bowie is also an analyst, but his field is foreign affairs, and he operates for the State Department in Washington, D. C.

DOWN THE AISLE: We have nothing specific concerning the matter of marriages, but we do have a few items on impending events. DoctorAl Friedlich became engaged to Mrs. Elaine Joel on or about March 18th. AL is now an assistant resident in medicine at the Mass. General Hospital, Boston. Mrs. Joel is from New York and Beverley Hills, Calif., and is the widow of Major Milton Joel Dune Farr has been making a few trips from Newburyport to Scarsdale, N. Y., and we learned why when the New York papers tipped us off on March 7th to his engagement to Rhoda Lester. Miss Lester is now with the Surgeon General's Office in Washington, and Dune is with the Towle Manufacturing Cos., silversmiths, Newburyport, Mass.

FOLLOWING THE STORK: Bill (The Duke)Kent, it is reported, has just become a father for the second time. A young Miss takes her place in the family beside mother Jane, and son Bill Jr. (a). The Duke is with the Kent Mfg. Co., who deal in woolen cloth and worsted yarns in the vicinity of Philadelphia. .... Baxter Prescott wrote us a very much appreciated letter telling of the birth of Susan Collingwood Prescott on February 21, during one of Washington's rare blizzards. This omen, Bax feels, is a good one for a Dartmouth daughter. When not paying strict attention to his brand new daughter, Bax can be found in the offices of the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Cos., in Washington, D. C.

WRITER OF THE MONTH: Robb De Graff pulled a "coup d'etat" when he wrote Treasurer Dusty Rohde and specifically asked him to pass the letter on to your scribe. We quote excerpts below:

I have been back at Du Pont—this time in Wilmington—for about fifteen months. Am acting as a products advertising manager under a division manager, on several diversified types of products, all of which are interesting and stimulating.

After staring at Bruce Gillies' face for three out of my four years in Hanover, another year in Bridgeport, countless times in the Navy both here and in the Pacific, I now find him in a plush-lined office not more than fifty feet from me, here in the advertising department. He is to take the "big step" in two weeks, and I am one of the chosen ones selected to help the guests down the long aisle.

Jim Comer, now a doctor of chemistry, is here in Wilmington, also with Du Pont in a job at the experimental station. Both Bob Kwis, then a space salesman—now a promotion man with "Better Homes," and Jim Fuller, of American Druggist, used to stop in and spar a round or two with me for space.

Because of a vacation conflict, Alice and I couldn't make Reunion, but did the next best thing by spending a week at the Inn in August, which was really one of the finest times I've ever had.

THE CLEARING HOUSE: "They're Off!" It's Green Derby time and Dune Farr is carrying the proud colors of the class of '39. IJow about that added lift in the form of your annual gift for the ALUMNI FUND!!! The address: Mr. Duncan Farr, Box 215, Newburyport, Mass.
