Thirty-Nine is on the move! At recent College and Class gatherings our gang has turned up in good force to talk about Hanover, and about other things, such as the wife and the kids. From Rodg Harrison comes word that our class had the greatest representation at the Central Pennsylvania Club meeting in Harrisburg, Pa., April 1. "As they stood to introduce themselves it went like this: JimSampson, Building materials, Lancaster; JohnPage, Investment business, Harrisburg; HackDavenport, Beanery, Harrisburg; Rodg Harrison, Advertising, Lancaster. Hack Davenport may say that he is in the bean business, but it's a pretty gilded bean to which he refers. He and his brother run a chain of restaurants in Harrisburg which carry the family name. They are fine restaurants, and the weight which Hack has put on is pretty good testimony, even if he is one of the owners."
At the Dartmouth Club of N. Y. meeting on April 19, at the Hotel Commodore, N. Y. C., the following guys sat around the '39 tables: Keith Anderson, Jim Fuller, Jocko Vincens, Haven Falconer, George Mcllroy, Tom Brooks, Dick Jackson, Larry Gilbert, Roy White, Bill Cunningham, Bob Alpert, Dick Hadley, Pete Rubel, and Bill Carter.
April 25th George Mcllroy and Bert MacMannis arranged a fine dinner at the Dartmouth Club for '39ers in the N. Y. area. The wives were on hand so there was a bit of dancing after dinner to help digestion. Your secretary took a few group pictures with his unpredictable camera, and the results were so poor, that we can't brighten up this page with a cut,—worse luck. Anyway, all hands had a good and jolly time. Among those present, with spouses in practically every case, were Keith Anderson, Jerry Beatty, Bill Carter, Fred Doll, Jim Fuller, Larry Gilbert, Herb Hirschland, Dick Jackson, Dave Long, Bill McCarthy, George Mcllroy, Bert MacMannis, Frank O'Brien, Fred Richardson, Dick Reubling, Andy Ruoff, Hank Schueler, and Bill Tucker.
Endy Smith wrote in some time ago outlining his plans for a beer party and baseball game for the '39ers up Boston way, scheduled for May 30, but at the time of this writing we have no details on the affair. Johnny Perry was one of the main cogs as far as arrangements were concerned.
HERE & THERE: On May 3, Bob Thomas was ordained to the deaconate in the Protestant Episcopal Church, by the Right Reverend James Pernette De Wolfe, STD, Bishop of Long Island. We haven't heard, but we assume that wife June and daughter Barbara were on hand for the ceremony. The Thomas's have recently been living in New Haven, where Bob attended Berkely Divinity School, in preparation In keeping with St. Patrick's Day, Harvard University announced the appointment of John Kelleher as Assistant Professor of Modern Irish History and Literature, on March 17 The New York World-Telegram has a daily column designed to keep advertising men up on the news of their trade. In the April 23rd issue, RoyWhite held top billing with the information that he brought back from his recent trip to France. He was billed as an "ad sleuth" and most notable of his comments we thought, was the one about the use of commercial shorts in the movie houses, interjected between newsreel and feature films. To quote from the article, "Can you imagine paying six bits on Broadway to see a flicker and having five minutes of some soap maker's ego flashed before your eyes!". ...In the April issue of the Reader's Digest is a very touching article about Sandy Sloane, entitled, "Cathedral of the Pines." It is written by Arch Whitehouse, who was a war correspondent, and who met Sandy shortly before he lost his life in an Air Strike over Germany. Sandy's Dad very thoughtfully brought the article to your secretary's attention, and we only hope that this word is not too late for you guys who knew Sandy, to look up the April issue.

DOWN THE AISLE: We have only one bit of intelligence about the marriage mart, and that has to do with the engagement of GeorgeBoswell to Elizabeth McKenzie of Rutherford, N. J. Miss McKenzie is a graduate of Wellesley, and is at present an administrative assistant at Princeton, where, incidentally George is studying for his Ph.D.
FOLLOWING THE STORK: We just received word via the Questionnaire route that PhilBeaulieu and wife Lois are Papa and Mama to Lynn Phillip Beaulieu as of March 26. Phil is still in the Army, a captain, and on occupational duty in Germany. His address 7803 SCU, APO 757, c/o PM, N. Y. C.
WRITER OF THE MONTH: We should really nominate Foster Clippenger for the second time this year, for his swell newsy letter from SCAP, Tokyo. But we think the letter is worth quoting in its entirety, so we have sent it up to the Editors in Hanover and hope they will include it in this issue on another page.
THE CLEARING HOUSE: The Executive Committee voted favorably on the recommendations mentioned in the April Column. In this connection, the fathers of our classmates lost in the war have been cordially welcomed as honorary members of the Class; and preparations are in progress as to a memorial gift of rare and first editions to be presented to the Library.
By the time this column is in print, your secretary will have returned from the Secretaries Association meetings in Hanover, May 16 and 17. About all we can say now is that you guys will be represented.
This is the last column of the season. The next time we'll be back in print is October, so we'll see ya then. We still have lots of news, thanks to the good response from those questionnaires of last winter, and we'll try to catch up next fall.
