Greetings. I am now settled in Detroit, or at least I will be by the time this reaches you. Already I have attended several luncheons with members of the Detroit Dartmouth Club. So far AI Russell, Bill Adam, and myself have been the only 45's in evidence. Bill and I recently spent a pleasant evening together reminiscing about old times. I have met DaveMott's wife and baby, both named Barbara, but I haven't seen Dave yet. Talked to him on the phone.

If I am the judge, the biggest news of the day is the report of a son, Jim, being born on June 3 to Phyl and Rex Felton. Needless to say I've had my share of sleepless nights, but I think Jim is reconciled to his fate now and he seems to have accepted us. At last report both Jim and Phyl were doing fine.

Not to be outdone, Lyn and Bud Ellms duplicated our feat on July 9 when Carlton Warren Ellms III was born. But on the other hand that makes two for the Ellms. They also have a little girl, Carlyn.

I seem to have started this column with glad tidings so I might as well continue. GeorgePulliam and Maxine Bundy were married on June 5 in Edgewood, Rhode Island. WendellRobinson and Agnes Hoerner ditto on July 17 in Corvallis, Oregon. Wendell and Agnes were to return to Des Moines after a two week honeymoon. Fed Hedges and Sarah Stamats took the vows in Cedar Rapids, lowa on June 19. Fed reports that Gene Pinney was an usher, along with Fed's brother, Dave, 1934, and Sally's (as Sarah is known) brother, Pete, 1951. Fed's father was class of 1911. JohnnyBrandt was also on hand. John Plummer mar- ried Judith Ann Mitchell in Woodbury, Conn., on July 18, 1948. Bill Maclntyre and Sheila D. Miller were tied in Wilmington, Del., on June 19. Tom King and Mary Purcell were married in June in Plainfield, N. J. Bob Haffenreffer and Virginia Kent were ditto in West Roxbury, Mass. Bob Tirrell married Margaret Morse in Ridgefield Park, N. J. in June. Bob is attending the College of Dentistry at New York University.

There are also several engagement announcements to be reported this month. Barbara Chandler is engaged to Sam Spaulding as of last July. Miss Chandler attended the Boston Museum School and resides in Portland, Me. Elizabeth Marsh of Scarsdale has announced her engagement to Andy Carstensen. Miss Marsh is a graduate of Connecticut College. Nancy Gile of Hanover and Bradford Junior College is engaged to Charlie Holt.Bruce Kenworthy and Virginia Brock are engaged. Miss Brock is a graduate of Colby Junior and resides in Port Washington, N. Y. Dick Welch and Christina Marquand plan to be married in the Fall. Miss Marquand attends Bennington College.

Roy Duke was the current winner of the Walter L. Jacobs Award at the Tuck School. You will remember that Bob Fisher was the original winner when the award was first offered last year. The '45s seem to be controlling this prize, which includes 50 books of the recipient's choice.

I have a letter here from Sam Cutler dated May 31 which arrived too late for the last column. The news is therefore stale but bears repeating. Sam writes: "The big event of the month was Dartmouth Night at the Pops. To my surprise there was a very good representation of the Class of 1945. Among those I saw were Al Foster, Phil Fessenden (just married), Steve D'Arrigo, Doug Donahue, Bob Haffenreffer and his new wife, Ginny, Jack Burroughs, Dick Southwick, Burt Hicock, DaveKendall, and Gordie Hinners (singing with the Glee Club). I'm sure there must have been a couple I missed, but between trying to listen to the music, write down names, and drink beer, I'm sure I overlooked someone somewhere.

"Saw Bob Zildjian at the Ken Club in Boston. We were both soaking up a little atmosphere."

Evan Connell. won a literature prize for a short story he wrote at Stanford. Evan is a graduate student in art and creative writing there.

"Ham" Porter was a July visitor at the Hanover Inn.

Bob Hacker and wife are now living in Davenport, lowa where Bob is in business selling Buicks. John Bernheim is a reporter on the Reading, Pa., Times. Fred Berthold is an instructor in Philosophy and Religion at Utica College, N. Y. "Johnny" Brooks is now located at the Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pa. Jimmy Brown now rates the title of Investment Banker with Thomson & McKinnon on Wall Street. Ed Harte has joined forces with the Kansas City Star. Gene Pinney is now directing Cargo Operations for American Airlines in Chicago. Win Sargeant is Employment Manager and Purchasing Agent for Continental Can Cos. in Utica, N. Y. Dr. Howie Sawyer is a resident physician at the Veterans Hospital in White River. Dr.John Simmons is an interne at French Hospital in N. Y. C. Bob Willcox is Administrative Assistant at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Fred Williamson is working for Macy's in New York as an assistant buyer. AlWorthen is in the Sales Department of American Manganese Steel in New Castle, Del. BobCrawford is aboard the USS Capitaine (55336) c/o FPO, San Diego, Calif. Howard Mac Curdy is Supply Manager for General Motors Interamerican Corp. in Caracas, Venezuela. JimRodney is a Sales Representative here in Detroit.

And that seems to be all the news for this time. Before I hang up the typewriter for a month, however, I want to thank all of you who cooperated in helping 1945 win the Little Green Derby in the recent Alumni Fund Cam- paign. And, especially, thanks to Nick Sandoe and his assistants who supervised our victory.
