Although a hurricane spent its fury on Miami October 5 our monthly luncheon was held next day as scheduled with ten men on hand to maintain a good showing for these noon gatherings which started last spring. Bob Pierce '25 brought along Tom McGlinn, president of the local Yale Club. This son of Eli gave us an acount of the founding and recent activities of the Yale Alumni Club in Miami. Yale, Harvard, and Princeton alumni groups join forces at least once a year to stage an outdoor or evening affair. It is quite probable that Ave will add the "D" of distinction to this threesome at a later date, and there are those who want to explore the possibilities of a University Club in Miami which would include all Ivy League colleges.
The "esprit de corps" of our club will be strengthened by several exclusively Dartmouth functions planned for this winter. It is also hoped that there are still a few wayward sons who have not yet found their way' to the fold who will do so this winter, and increase our membership above the seventy odd at which it now stands.
Our committees are taking shape, and should start to function in the near future. The following men have been nominated to serve as chairmen: Richard C. Plumer '12, Schools and Admissions; Bennet K. Watts '26, Program; Milton L. Patterson '30, Vocational; George E. Patterson Jr. '39, Scholarship; George R. Loehr '20, Hopkins Fund.
The Rev. Harry I. Marshall 'OO, who spent forty years in Burma as a missionary, attended our luncheon for the first time. He has just returned from Maine where he spends the summer.
