The death of Harry Linnell removed an interesting character from among our classmates. For a long time he had been selling marine paints, 27 years, and knew personally most of the ship builders and marine paint dealers up the"coast from New York. Every once in a while he would drop in on me for a few minutes' chat on his way to Marblehead, Gloucester, Rockport and Essex. His love for all things of the sea was intense. As a young man he became proficient as a skipper and taught many a boy to sail a boat. A good fisherman, he would spin many a yarn which a Marbleheader would have to admit was good.
He went back to Falmouth this summer against the advice of all concerned simply because he loved it there. Because he left us early in college life we knew but a portion of his character. His family became his greatest pride.
Give Mort French another salute. He did great work on the Alumni Fund for the class.
